Dennis W. Maida

Dennis W. Maida, age 71, peacefully passed away at his home on Monday, September 29th, 2025 after a short illness. He was born on September 28, 1954 in Pinconning, Michigan to the late Joseph and Evelyn (Kaczmarek) Maida.

Dennis worked at Monitor Sugar Company for 30 years as sugar and beet-ends foreman and heavy industrial mechanic and dedicated time to his community in his role on the Garfield Township and Auburn Zoning Planning Commissions. Central to Dennis’s life was dedication to sobriety and supporting others in recovery through Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).

He is survived by his wife Dawn (Markillie-Danks) Maida; children Aaron and Nicole Danks, Alex and Katie Danks and Alicia Maida; siblings David and Cathy Maida, Mary Jo Sierko, Robert and Patty Markillie, Joy and Neal Krieger; and grandchildren: Joseph, Anna and Oskar. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Evelyn Maida and Douglas and Marion Markillie, his brothers Joseph Maida Jr., James Maida and Scott Sierko.

Funeral service will be celebrated Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 11:00 am at Auburn United Methodist Church, 207 S Auburn St, Auburn, MI 48611. Visitation for family begins at 9:00 am and friends at 10:00 am. Donations of coffee supplies (regular, decaf, sugar packets, creamer, stirrers, hot cocoa) for local AA meetings will be welcomed by the family and distributed among local meetings.
