Elaine Pross

Mrs. Pross, age 91, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, great grandmother and friend passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 16, 2020, from injuries received in an auto accident. Elaine was born on December 16, 1928 in Essexville, Michigan to the late Frank & Edith (Raeck) Meyer. She married the late Herman Pross, on March 3rd, 1951, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pinconning. The family has always resided in the Pinconning area.

Elaine was always involved in Church activities, taught Sunday for 10 years or more, directed many Christmas programs, served on the Altar Guild for many years, served as Ladies Guild Treasurer until a few weeks before her accident. She was a member of the Bay Area Lutheran Women’s Missionary for many years and represented St. John’s at several state and national conventions, cooked the annual Church Sausage and Sauerkraut dinner, and many funeral luncheons for family and friends.

After her family was grown, she went to work as a cook at H&H Bakery, Green Hills Golf Course Restaurant, and finally retired from Iva’s Chicken Dinner’s in Sterling.

Elaine enjoyed sewing, crocheting, traveling with her best friend the late Lorina Rosenbrock and others. She traveled all over the world, but most enjoyed family times, especially with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was always ready to attend any school event she could. She was an avid bowler for several years, being on up to three leagues at a time.

She is survived by her children Dorothy J. Kridler and Gerald H. and Deborah Pross; five grandchildren: Kristin Pross of New York, Jodi (James) Schmitz; James (RaShawnda) Kridler, John A Kridler Jr. and Jennifer Kridler; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters Janet H. Eurich and Ruth Meyer; a special nephew Larry D. Eurich II; sister-in-law Virginia Meyer of Dearborn, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, a brother Walter Meyer, son-in-law John A Kridler Sr., brother-in-law Larry D. Eurich.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 28, 2020, at 11 am, with Pastor David Jung presiding with burial in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 8 pm. On Friday Elaine will lie in state at the church from 10 am until time of service.

In lieu of flowers those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Pinconning Area Emergency Food Pantry or the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
