Gary J. Kensey
Gary J. Kinsey, age 80, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 08, 2021, of a long, lingering illness surrounded by his family.
He was born in Pinconning, Michigan on February 27, 1941, to the late Erkles and Eileen (Gibson) Kinsey. He married the love of his life Norma Jean (DeLano) May 19, 1962, in Linwood, Michigan where they raised their two sons, Kendall and Jay. Gary and Norma could be seen together often golfing, playing cards, enjoying the Casino and wintering in Florida.
Gary worked for General Motors Tool and Die department and retired in 2003 after 30 years of service. One of his many passions was coaching. Volunteering his time and knowledge of sports beginning in the Crump youth baseball programs, moving on to Pinconning’s Middle School basketball and football programs, later Pinconning’s Freshman and Junior Varsity before becoming the Spartans Head Varsity football coach in 1984.
Later in life playing golf with his wife, his sons and many friends at Green Hills Golf Course was his pure joy. Honing his game to a few Bay County Championships in various age groups and multiple hole-in-ones.
He is survived by his children; Kendall (Limin) and Jay; grandchildren Zachary (Caitie), Elijah, Mikayla, Emily, Gabriel, Bailey, Kassondra and Victoria; and one great grandchild Hadley Mae. Also, his brother/sisters-in-law, Terald and Dawn DeLano, Celeste DeLano and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother and sister; Wayne and Michele; father/mother-in-law; Elmo and Theresa DeLano; brother/sister-in-law, Jerald DeLano and Donna Kinsey.
A funeral Mass was held at Prince of Peace Parish, St. Anne’s Church, Linwood Michigan on Saturday, December 11, 2021, Fr. Patrick O’Connor presided.
Memorial Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Green Hills Golf Course for a future memorial plaque.
Rivertown Funeral Chapel, Kawkawlin, MI, was in charge of arrangements.
