John George Compeau

John George Compeau, age 77, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. He was born on March 26, 1948, in Bay City, Michigan to the late Charles & Leona (Strieter) Compeau Sr. John grew up on the family’s 40-acre farm, where he learned how to work on cars and tractors. He had many hot rods, old tractors, backhoes, and bulldozers to wrench on. John proudly served in the United States Army stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He worked at Prestolite for close to 20 years near the time they closed their doors.
He enjoyed many hobbies including working on antique cars, race cars, tractors, lawn equipment, hunting, and tinkering on many projects in his pole barn.

John is survived by his wife of 18 years, Tammy (Trumble), 4 stepchildren, his sister’s: Joan Childs, and Lynn Snyder, three grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Compeau Jr., brother in law’s, Edwin Childs, Dennis Snyder, and nephew Charles Childs. John was loving, friendly, a handy man, and great neighbor to Ron & Tina Haas.

Per John’s wishes cremation has taken place and no services are planned.
