Lester (Les) Marshall Hudson
Lester (Les) M. Hudson, age 73, passed away on May 7, 2023, in Sanford, Michigan after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born on July 28, 1949, in Bay City, Michigan to Marshall & Catherine (Drouin) Hudson. He attended Pinconning Area High School and graduated in 1967. After a semester at Central Michigan University, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served as a Communications Technician for more than 8 years. He received training in electronics and had a top-secret security clearance as he worked on sophisticated electronic surveillance equipment. During his time in the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Suzette (Sue Girard) celebrating 51 years together. After leaving the Navy in 1976, his electronics training led him to a job at the Midland Center for the Arts as the lighting and sound director and the electronic maintenance technician for the Hall of Ideas. After 21 years at the Center, he took a job at the Bay-Arenac ISD as a computer support specialist. He serviced computers at many of the schools in Bay and Arenac Counties. He retired from the ISD in 2010. He was so proud and blessed to have two wonderful sons, Jeremy (Rachel) Hudson of Kingwood, TX, and Jeff Hudson of Marion, Massachusetts; and two precious grandsons, Noah and Jonah, who brought him so much joy.
He loved to tinker with electronics and computers, repairing and troubleshooting for many people. He was an avid golfer, and shortly after retirement he and his wife Sue wintered in Zephyrhills, Florida at the Glen Haven RV and Mobile Home Park which allowed him to golf year around. He had many golfing buddies with whom he was always eager to share his birdie juice. He served as Vice President of the RV Park, and President of the Mobile Homeowners Association and made many precious friends in the park. He was a life-long member of the Garfield United Methodist Church, and a member of the American Legion Post 239, Linwood, Michigan. Les also leaves behind his loving mother Catherine (Drouin, Hudson) Bock of Pinconning; his sister Patricia (Dan) Bond of Omer; four special sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father Marshall Hudson, his step-father Howard Bock, and his father and mother-in-law Richard & Doris Girard.
