William F. Karbowski

William F “Bill” Karbowski, brother, father, grandfather, went home to be with our lord on Thursday, January 7, 2021 following a lengthy illness. Bill was born in Crump, Michigan to Stanley and Elsie (Rogner) Karbowski on May 6, 1944. He attended Pinconning High School and graduated in 1962. He received a master’s degree in math at Central Michigan University in 1966. On August 19, 1967 Bill married Mary Jane (Wilson). They adopted two children, Kelly and Susan (Sheahan). Bill was a math teacher, first for Bangor Schools and then for Pinconning High School. Later he became assistant principal for Pinconning High School and held that position until 1977. In the late 1970’s he left education to become a farmer and was the owner/operator of Karbowski Farms. In 1978 he was elected supervisor of Garfield Township and served two terms. In 1987 Bill started B and K Appraisal. He held certification as a level 3 state certified assessor until 2017, serving several townships in Gladwin, Midland, Arenac, Iosco and Bay Counties. He serviced most of Michigan’s lower peninsula as a certified general appraiser from 1991 until stepping away from the business in 2019. Bill was very active in his membership at Kawkawlin Community Church. He was the serving chairman of the board of trustees at the time of his passing. Bill remained very active in public service. He served on the board of education for Pinconning Area Schools in the mid 1990’s. He also served several terms on and was a member of the Bay-Arenac ISD Board of Education at the time of his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bernard (Clarabelle) Karbowski and his second wife Ellen. Bill is survived by his sister, Alice (Ted) Rezmer, mother of his children, Mary Jane, his son Kelly and his companion Lacie and her two daughters, Sophia and Lily, and his daughter, Susan (Tom) Sheahan and their children Nora and Ryan. He is also survived by nieces Linda (Clarke) Foco and Janice (John) Wood, and nephew Daniel (Natalie) Karbowski, 6 great nieces and nephews and 5 great-great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by stepdaughters Michele (Chip) Horwath, Andrea Kelly, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Visitation will take place at the Rivertown Funeral Chapel in Kawkawlin. Family will greet friends on Monday, January 11 from 1 pm until 8 pm. In lieu of the ongoing pandemic, the family has opted for a private funeral service.
